An Indian Food Chart for weight loss

Wednesday, September 07, 2011

I have been searching since long for an Indian food chart which I could upload in my dietary preferences page . The spark page does list a number of food and their calories but most of them (obviously and logically) did not match mine. It does allow us to put up our own choice of food but I did not know how many calories did they have... I have finally been given a food chart by a hospital dietitian after a health check up I had recently in India. I am putting up the chart , in case it is helpful to others with dietary preferences like mine. Kindly note that this diet is specific to my loss requirement of 15 + Kgs. Please tweak it if your loss requirement is lower.
To tell the truth, I have had this diet chart with me for more than a year. But each time I had a look at it, I felt it would leave me hungry. Today, I finally decided to check it out. And I was pleasantly surprised to note that the food was substantial. Two rotis, a bowl of dal, another of sabji, another of salad and a large glass of chaas -- I think you get the picture...I , in fact, double checked to see if I had the quantity right on the amount of vegetables. So far so good .. at least for today.. each time I decide to stop eating sweets, a friend /acquaintance is sure to drop in with a box of sweets. Today was no different. My friend Sampada has given me this lovely halwa made of pure ghee... I had a quarter spoonful twice guiltily and gleefully... Ah, the dilemma of choosing between the pain of discipline and the pain of regret! The food chart is on the next blog post.

I admire your willingness to try new foods. We are a rural town and getting ingredients for more adventurous cooking is sometimes challenging.

    Have a great day!
