I know this blog is a day late, but after the day I had yesterday I was too exhausted to write anything. As many of you know, yesterday marked the first Buckeye football game of the season
...and of course we were there. Luckily the game was at noon, so I didn't have a whole lot of time to hang around the tailgate and be tempted by alcohol (my confession, I did have a few...and knew when to stop) and all the delicious food they had cooking there. Of course with every upside...there comes a downside...with the game being in the middle of the day, it meant that the sun would be blazing down upon us. When we bought our tickets at the tailgate, we quickly learned that our seats were in C deck (and let me tell you, nothing can ever prepare you for the C deck climb). So when the clock strikes 11:30am, we start to make the half mile journey from the tailgate to the stadium, weaving through people, dodging scalpers, and ignoring those trying to sell us sunblock for $10 (yea, that really did happen
). It didn't take us long to reach the stadium, even getting through the gate was a breeze...but then we saw them...the stairs leading to C deck (insert dramatic music here
). I don't know why it is, but it seems like as soon as people get through the gate, they just stop moving, so after we pushed our way through those people, we meandered over to the stairs. I took a deep breath and said to myself..."self, if you can run for 30minutes straight, you can handle these stairs-at least somewhat better than you did last year..." So, off we go...first flight-not bad, second through sixth, still moving upward. Seventh flight, starting to pant, every flight after that (I lost count), I'm gripping the rail as if it were my only source of oxygen...but I kept moving, never slowing down, and finally...we were there C deck. We make our way over to the entryway and the usher (who needs to learn the difference between his left and his right) tell us where our seats are (yea, in backwards land)...so I climb up the remaining steps to row 22 and take my (new) seat. Over the loudspeaker you can hear them announcing the coin toss and we are just moments away from the kickoff to start the OSU football season! Only one thing could have made this moment better...a cloud, some shade, lower temps, hell even a little rain would have helped
. The temperature was a blistering 92* , but with the sun beating down on us, it felt more like 102 or higher. I didn't even make it until the end of the first quarter before I started feeling sick...and had to go back down those 22 rows to cool off. Three wet t-shirts, and several bottles of water dumped on me, the game is over...OSU beats Akron 42 to 0! What a hell of a start! A great victory for them. BUT the story isn't over there....if you notice the title, it is victory, pluralized, I had a few of my own personal victories this week. My first victory came when I bought my wedding dress
...something I had no intention of doing until I lost some more weight. I went in looking for a t-shirt, and instead bought my dress for only $25...oh yea, I'm that good. With 45 weeks to go, I am hoping to look even better in my new dress...if you would like to see a picture of it, click this link (Kernen...I will know if you sneak a peek, so don't bother...love you
. My other victory happened this morning...since my blog is a day late, it coincided with my weigh in day, stepping foot on the scale this morning, I saw a lower number than last week, which means...since I started my weight loss journey I'm at my lowest weight so far! I am now weighing in at 196lbs, and I only have 82 lbs to go!
. So there you have it...a blog of victories, some big, some small, but all worth something to someone.
