Day 14

Today was all about cross training and having fun. Our local bicycle sport organization had a "casual" social ride this morning. I expected a fun ride of 25-30 miles at a 20 mph pace. What I got was a full out 25-30 mph ride - 40 miles long and FUN!!!

I normally ride alone or with 2 friends, so we do very little to any drafting. Which is normally good because I do triathlons - and drafting is against the rules. Today was all about drafting. You put in a lot less effort and go so much faster. I am fairly new to group riding and don't know all the hand signals and what not - but I held my own and tried to stay out of the way. On the way back, an experienced rider (who as also an older gentleman) told me that I was a "super strong rider" and it was a pleasure to have me on the ride. I guess I have a smooth pace and don't bobble a lot which is a main complaint of the "newbies." He made my day!!!

On the way out, I got invited to a meeting for the local bike racing club. emoticon

It was a nice break from all the running! Although I will be back at it again tomorrow
