All faired out....

I am exhausted! Looking back at this weekend just proves that I am not as young as I used to be.

My hubby and I enjoyed our date together at the Minnesota State Fair on Friday. We walked ALL DAY LONG! I didn't sit even once until we got back to the car. It was a lot of fun though. I did pretty well with the food sharing everything thing with my hubby and our friends. Here is what I tried:

- one bite of bacon on a stick.... this was super fat bacon but the bite was really good and all I needed.

- two bites of a footlong hotdog with onions.

- small iced coffee

- one large green olive stuffed with garlic

- about six cinnamon chocolate roasted almonds...very good!

- two fried ravioli's

- about four cheese curds dipped in ketchup

- one small fresh squeezed lemonade..... this was my favorite out of all the things we tried!

- six sweet martha cookies.... went a little wild here. My hubby needed us to eat the overflowing bucket so that he could get the cover on. I felt sick after eating these cookies.

We left the fair about 4:00 pm after getting there bright and early. It was a long day of walking and standing. My legs and feet were exhausted. And I was so tired and not hungry even though I really didn't fill up too much on junk. We ended the time together visiting his dad at the hospital and bringing him some of our cookies. (Finding out later that he should not have had them.... the medicine he is getting is making him a diabetic.)

Then on Sunday we had another fair time! This time we were heading with our kids and my sisters family to Valleyfair. Another full day of walking with very little sitting. The kids were so excited we haven't been here in years and now they were old enough to go on the big rides. Even my seven year old who was just over an inch to ride the big rides. You have to be 48 inches and she measured in at 49...... score!

We took the kids to the first rollercoaster of the day. The Corkscrew! My daughter was nervous and excited at the same time. I was nervous of her going on so I had my hubby take her while I went on with the boys. Jacob courageously went on by himself! His first time going on and he didn't have a partner to ride with. He was fine though. My boys loved it and couldn't wait until the next ride. Kacie also loved it! I was surprised that she didn't get scared and actually followed through with going on the ride.

Here is a picture of the kids on the swings but you can see the Corkscrew rails in the background.

The next few rollercoasters were fun taking the kids on. I didn't even notice the hills because I was too busy watching their faces as they went down. The horror in their eyes as they lost there stomach and then the smiling later as they knew the hills were down. They always got off the rides wanting more!

My daughter tried the High Roller which is a wooden roller coaster with a pretty decent size hill. She wasn't too ready for this hill and ended up crying a little while the ride was still going. She said she liked it but was fine with not riding again. The Corkscrew however, she ended up riding twice.

Here is a picture of one of the rollercoasters my boys tried. Kacie did not try this one though....

The day was gloomy and over-cast all day but that made it nice. The sun would peek out every now and then and we even had a little sprinkle of rain at one point. The kids didn't mind.... they were having a blast!

I got a little worried on this one..... My oldest wanted to go on the pirate ship. He wanted to try everything there and this was one I really didn't want to go on. So he went on with his uncle and we sat and watched as he hung upside down. He loved it though you can't tell from the first picture. This was at the beginning and he is sitting next to his uncle in the green shirt....

We ended the evening with my son, his uncle, and me going on Steel Venom which is a newer ride at the fair. Your feet dangle on this coaster and it goes super fast. I screamed a lot on this one so by the end of it my throat was very hoarse.

All in all it was a great weekend with going to both fairs. And the kids had a blast! I enjoyed going on the rides.... I am a huge thrill seeker so it was great to feel that adrenaline rush again.

Nice end to summer vacation!
