1st Tri 1:31.43 =)

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Yay! I did it! After soooo much training and preparing, and sooooo much money spent, I finally got to do my triathlon. The day was perfect! My heat started at 8:24. The water temperature was about 75 degrees. I think that was great. It wasn't too cold. Warmer than the air at that time of day. The lake was really dirty so I really couldn't see where I was going, but it was so much fun. I was a stronger swimmer than most, so I pulled away from the rest of the pack and didn't have too much trouble will all the people in the water at the same time. I had no idea what I was doing in the bike portion, so I picked a lady who was going at a pretty quick pace and just stayed with her. At the end there were 4 of us challenging each other all the way on the 20K course. It was great. I did the best in the bike because I stayed with them. The run kind of sucked. That's because I hate running. It was part trail, part paved, I ran really slow because I didn't want to die. Maybe too slow. Out of almost 500 athletes, I was 77th in the swim, 74th in the bike and 122 in the run. 97th overall! Top ten in my age group. (lol maybe a good thing to be old!)

Thanks for sticking with me and supporting me spark friends! It was a blast and I would really recommend doing one if you're even thinking of it!
