I have been on a mission to increase and vary my exercise routine. I NEED to get my body believing it can change into something wonderful. I have been jogging, pilates twice a week, zumba once a week. I wanted something more, so I found a new dance studio in my town. I found this cute place:
They offer a free class before you join, so I had planned to do one called Body Blast Boot Camp. HOWEVER, I did not correctly look at the day of my class and ended up at the BURLESQUE class. Wow, talk about a shock! Let's just say some people were wearing fishnets, high heels, and were dancing on a chair. I am pretty reserved, so I would have NEVER done this voluntarily. I am NOT comfortable in my skin. I thought I would give it a try and stick it out.....and it was a LOT of fun. Once a person learns the dance, it could potentially be VERY fun to let lose. I may just join this place.....
Friday was a jog. I ran almost 3 miles non stop. Since I am jogging at just about my biggest weight ever, this is an accomplishment. That, and the 450 calories I burned.
Today I took my daughter, her friend, and my son for a hike. The trail is called The Johnson Ranch trail. It can be 3 to 5 miles depending on the route one takes. It is shared with mountain bikers, runners, and joggers. Occasionally, one comes across a wild boar I have heard, but I have been fortunate to not have encountered one yet. I LOVE pictures, so I am posting some courtesy of my Google search engine. Again, these are NOT mine...
I have hiked this trail several times before, but today was a hotter day to be hiking this trail. The kids got to see birds, lizards, squirrels and some horses today. Toward the last 1/3 of the trail, some unusual rustling/noise got my attention as the older two children passed a point on the trail. To my left, I saw this:
This was not my picture, as mine did not come out very well. I am VERY sure about what type of snake this was. It was DEFINITELY a rattlesnake. I apparently didn't startle the snake, as he wasn't shaking his rattle at me, but I got a very close look at the snake, as it was within a yard of me. It was on a ledge on the left of the trail in some brush. I am grateful for his disinterest in me. By the time I realized what the animal was making the noise in the brush, it had already seen me and realized I was of no threat and began to turn and slink up the hillside. My daughter and her friend of course had to rush on to facebook to discuss my brush with death. While I feel I was never in any danger, I was a bit more cautious on the rest of the trail lol. This hike ended up netting me 5 miles in fitness and 650 calories.
I think for the rest of the day I plan on doing a bunch of relaxing and reading. I am just not in the mood for all of the things I "should" be doing, such as cleaning, laundry, blah blah blah. I would rather read my new book, Game of Thrones. The HBO series inspired me to begin reading the books, which so far have been very close to the series.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
