Amazing How Your Sugars Work...

I woke up at about 10am this morning, not sure why I slept in so long. I got up and walked around used the restroom and then sat at the desk and turned on the computer. I grabbed a water and started going through some work.

I posted on spark and tallied up some of last nights "snacks" and then took my blood glucose level and it was 160. I am thinking that when I ate my big snack last night I likely spiked my sugar near 250 or something. I had two celery sticks with peanut butter and an extra table spoon of peanut butter and a banana.

Then a while later I had two instant peach oatmeal packets raw. I know that processed crap really got me. I felt good afterwards though expected my blood to be lower than 160.

I have the plain oats now though forget to get berries this time around. I could chug some plain oats while eating the banana or a pear I guess.

Blood Sugars are amazing :)

    Awww, Don't blame the berries. 1 cup of strawberries has 1/4 the calories of oatmeal and 1/3 the amount of net carbs (carbs minus fiber).

    1 cup oatmeal, 1 slice of bread, a medium size tortilla wrap (any color) and 1 medium banana all have about 20 - 25 net carbs. So if you had 2 packets of oatmeal and one banana you had about snack of about 75 carbs.

    Pookie's recipe sounds really good . . . low carb, high protein.

    I use oatmeal to make pancakes... blend 1/4 cup oats with 1/4 cup cottage cheese and 3 egg whites... super high protein, low and healthy carbs.

    I think Oatmeal is one of my staple foods, (although the banana bread flavors SUCKS ) becauseeeeeee and those that are diabetics in my family will also agree, that the fiber and the protein will balance out your sugars. I would however get the brands that are called weight control OR the ones with LESS sugar. But it makes me feel full longer between snacking as well.
    Things that i also love String Cheese! The protein HELPS so much! Have an apple and a string cheese before bed. Less peanut butter lol. Its healthy but to much of a good thing can hurt u lol.
    ALSO love healthypop 94% fat free by Jolly, i like this snack because its almost like ur cheating.... but your not. Its healthier for u, and takes longer to munch.

    I was 167 when i checked my sugar at 11:15 this morning, i had a piece of birthday cake yesterday then was up for MANY hrs without eating, so that wasnt good. To high, but i didnt know to high can make u shaky too??
    hmmmmm.....

    Oats... oatmeal... blech. I cant handle any of it. Unless I make cookies out of it with splenda and applesauce... ::drool:: lol Yes, our bodies are amazing machines! Glad your sugars weren't super low when you woke up though, then you might not feel so good. :)
