So this is what 100 pounds looks like. I think I can see the difference. I lost myself bit by bit over the last four years and though there were times that the scale wouldn’t move or I couldn’t see a difference, it is the before and after photos which make it all clear.
The journey has been worthwhile and enlightening in more “weighs” than just weight loss. I always thought I was beautiful but I uncovered strength, determination, stamina and ambition. Now I’m a knockout! I am empowered now beyond belief!! I went from a size 22/24 to a 4/6 and had to transition my wardrobe to a smaller size EACH season. Thank heavens for InStyle, good taste, good seamstresses and great local thrift stores!
My metamorphosis isn’t complete and probably never will be. Once someone embraces the idea and attainment of goals and challenges they will forever seek to be more. The dreams they strive to reach are no longer just about weight or health, but they encompass every aspect of their life. They will continue to “create” themselves because their passion and love for life and achieving all they can constantly drives them towards their desires.
I have overcome one of the world’s biggest struggles and along my journey discovered how awesome I can be. I returned to school full-time and while earning a nearly 4.0 managed to care for myself, my children, my home and my job. I don’t whine or moan about challenges or obstacles. Sure I might throw myself a 5 minute pity party, but that is it. I do what needs to be done all while ENJOYING the thought of overcoming a new challenge.
My weight loss has slowed now. I am hoping that I will continue to see visible changes in myself as move towards new fitness goals. But if not, I will see more race bibs and medals hanging on my office walls. I will see more pictures of the breathtaking trails I run and can’t resist photographing. My stash of achievement mementos will continue to increase, but most of all I hope I see my influence in my children. I hope I can teach them about being active, living healthy and striving for every single one of their dreams and how valuable and special they are.
Okay… So I need to submit my final DIY numbers.
BTW, I didn’t include my waist in the posted challenge measurements but I went from 30.5” to 28.5” and my butt lost 2” too! I logged almost 2,000 CARDIO minutes in July alone!
So I am ready for the next challenge! Bring it on! I was getting ready to launch a new strength program and Yoovie has presented us with the perfect challenge. And I am embracing my superhero persona - meet Clio Vidara. I can’t wait to see what I (she) can do!!!
