Jinxed myself! Let's try this again, shall we?

Friday, August 19, 2011

Earlier in the week I posted my workout goals for the week. This is the first time I've done that in forever and I think I jinxed myself. I had the worse exercise week since I began my streak five weeks ago. I wasn't able to go to the gym on Monday or Thursday and found myself snacking like a fiend all week. On the up side, I made it to Zumba and danced my tush off. I did ST and cardio on Tuesday and today. Tomorrow I'm going back to step class and then hubby and I have a wedding in the late afternoon.

Parents are going to Ireland next week, so I'll be sans gym partner for awhile. On one hand this is good because I can indulge in longer workouts. Mom doesn't really push herself and lately I've been getting the nudge to leave a little sooner than I'd like. The few times Mom hasn't gone this summer I've kicked it up a notch with ST, increase cardio to an hour, and added in 30 minutes of swimming practice. The downside to not having Mom with me is that it will test my early morning willpower. It's tempting to "go later" when someone's not waiting for you to pick them up!

So my plan for next week is to hit the gym everyday for ST and cardio. On days when I have appointments (Monday and Tuesday), I'll just do 30 minutes of cardio instead of an hour.

Since starting my streak five weeks ago, I lost 3lbs. This week I gained two and lost two again. The first three weeks of working out I was motivated by the novelty of daily exercise. I noticed the 3lb weight loss right as my motivation was waning and that got me up and going again. Gaining 2lbs, coupled with a slack exercise week, has me looking for motivation again. Once I lost the 3lbs my goal was then to lose two more before school started. If I lost a pound a week, I would hit it. There still might be hope!

I'm looking forward to step class tomorrow because it's a fun and intense workout. (The instructor has us using weights and we do ab work too.) I think exercising alone next week will give me the head space to get back in the game.
