Pleased and Honored

Friday, August 19, 2011

My niece called yesterday and asked me to run a 5K with her. She's a really neat person, 24 years old, recently engaged to be married, graduated valedictorian of her high school and at the top of her university class, beautiful, funny, hard working, athletic, personable -- well, it's just hard to say enough positive things about her. Unfortunately the 5K she wanted to run on Sept. 24th won't work for me and she doesn't want to race sooner. So we are considering the GoGreen 5K October 15th run on a dirt trail. I'm pleased and honored she'd want to run with her old aunt. I was even more honored when her mom told me she's been running for several weeks to get in shape to assure she can keep up with me!

I bet she would not have needed to, as I'm still not up to speed after several weeks of illness. Tomorrow I plan to run the Watermelon Series 5K just for exercise and fun, but not really race hard. I'm out of the medal contention anyway since I missed the 3rd race due to illness. I'm working to be back up to speed soon, hoping to do well in the FitNiche 5K on September 3rd.

What a great experience it will be to run together with her - and it is really neat that she admires you enough to do this with you...hoping it is the beginning of something you and she can share together for many years to come. She sounds like the kind of family member anyone would be proud to call their own.

Too cute, Marsha!!! She must know from experience that since you've lost weight you're the Eveready Bunny! You keep going and going and going! It is really hard to keep up with you. I know, I've tried! Seriously, I think it is wonderful that she wants to run with you. It should be lots of fun. Enjoy!

Everyone is recognizing how far you have come! They know you are amazing!! ENJOY your next race -doesn't matter how you do, but finishing at a time that satisfies your current state of health should be enough..
Looking forward to celebrating your finishes again :)
