I make new friends in the oddest places

For those of you who don't know the type of person I am I will tell you that like my dad I can strike up a conversation with just about anyone. I am not someone who is much for small talk, quite the opposite. I find it really difficult to make small talk I just don't think my life is all that interesting and there is not that much commonality with even those I know quite well. I do however enjoy many different subjects and hearing other takes and view points on common and not so common subjects (I draw the line when it comes to politics and religion. I just don't go there, the subjects are potential powder kegs). In essence I really find other people quite interesting and I enjoy interacting with them. My son says I am a stalker, always looking for someone to talk to. LOL


A couple of days ago my we went to Borders to see what deals they had for their going-out-of business sale. I was browsing through the stationary aisle's looking for a large date book for my daughter-in-law for her birthday when I found a new friend. She and I began talking and before you know it we are conversing like we long lost friends. During our conversation the topic of weight loss came up and before we parted ways we discovered that we are both Sparkies. Now how cool is that??

I really look forward to further conversations and support with her as well as all of you on Sparkpeople. I once thought there was no one close by that I would possibly run across in my local travels only to find there are SO many. I look forward to "bumping into you" sometime soon.
