Upward and onward...in hiking boots

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

Last year I could hike all day hikes and felt great afterwards. This year...umm...not the same. It was time for a change so have hiking boots will travel.

Short hike accomplished - - yes I did feel a little like the big bad wolf when I did this one the first few times. There's a lot of huffing and puffing along the way. It's a short hike but 20 mins straight uphill.

Medium hike one accomplished - - Love the lake one, 12 KM but there are so many straight stretches I can do this one without stopping. Quite the ego boost.

Medium hike two accomplished - - We'll call this one the evil, sadistic hike. It takes 40 mins to walk up the road to get to the hike. There is no flat spots or downhill, 40 mins of straight up hill. The hike itself only takes 20 mins to get to the top but it's along a cliff which makes my husband a tad nervous, especially when I insist on walking beside him along the edge. What can I say, the hike brings out the evil in me.

Now it's time for a new hike, the long one. I'm not the least bit nervous. (I'm lying)

Tomorrow I'm heading out on a day long hike with my youngest daughter. It's an advanced trek that takes 5 - 6 hours. My daughter has warned me that the first part is very intense and we'll be stopping a few times along the way. I'll take my camera and post pictures.

I go on my shopping trip in 3 weeks and I want to treat myself to a new pair of jeans. In order for that to happen the newly developed jelly belly has to go. So a hiking I will go, a hiking I will go, high ho the dairy-o a hiking I will go.
