Nope, nope, nope....no more pets for me!

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

--Argh!.. My dad's dog, Peanut (a.k.a. nuthead, nutterbut, buthead, nuttimus--my photo/avatar), seemed a little lethargic and sore. He also was limping/stumbling a bit. We took him to the vet this morning and it seems he hurt his back pretty badly (herniated/slipped? disc). So, the vet gave him a shot of steroids and told us no steps, jumping or running for the little dear or he could hurt himself to the point of losing use of his legs. He also needs to come back for the next several days for shots in the mornings. I am so worried about the little mutt!
--Next....Miss Lucy has a lump slighty forward of her left hip. I have an appointment for her next week.
--And-Rastus (Mr. Cleese) got a bug bite of sorts on his head. He seems okay but if the swelling doesn't go down, he'll be seeing the vet, also. I must admit the effect of the swelling is to give him the likeness of a wild cat's wider nose. Rastus says Miss Lucy thinks it's a definite improvement on his features.
--Seven is feeling a little left out and I'm hoping he doesn't go out and try to catch some illness or break something.
--'STILL smokey outside from the Dismal Swamp fire!

Re-Rastus: there is a fly parasite that lays its eggs under an animals skin and causes a lot of damage and danger of infection. Rastus needs to see the vet!

Our pets are very dear to all of us. When our pets get sick, injured or just old, we hate to think of the worst. I had a smooth red female dachshund for 14 years. She was my baby. She died this past January. My husband did not ever want another dog. As time past, I wanted another dachshund. This past Monday I got a darling longhair, dark chocolate with caramel markings, dachshund. She is 4 months old and weighs 4.1 pounds. My husband can't keep his hands off her. Gidget just thinks my dh is wonderful (love at first sight for both of them.)
We say " No more, Never again" But, we are all suckers for a cute little face.

I'm sorry, but it looks like everyone who is answering your blog has got your number. If you are a pet person it doesn't go away. I've said several times, I've had enough pets - But - the next little face that I see turns out to be my new furry friend!
Best wishes on getting everyone well. emoticon emoticon

Here's wishing everybody gets well soon !

Sure, you say that now, but could you honestly live without a pet or 6 in your life? Can't be done. Once pet bitten it's something that stays with you always. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
