Fun With Fundraising & Self-discovery

Went to a luau last night and ate too much but it was all healthy, nutritious and lean food. Lots of lean meats, fruit and vegie salads (brought my own dressing!) and had the sweet potato side instead of the rice. I had a maitai drink, lots of water, hot black tea and skipped dessert!
Sixteen friends joined us to enjoy the meal, fellowship and a great floor show of hulas from different island cultures. A lesson is always included and trying to do the hula was hilarious! I felt like I got a lower body work out. Wish you could have been there too! I know I would have loved your company.
We attend several fundraisers per year and friends always join us; sometimes we have a total of 25 to 30 people to our group and we are so loud the organizers place us in our own little area. Next event is a Texas bar-b-q with required western attire and cowboy/girl boots, hats and even chaps. Heee, Haaw! It's usually fun and country line dancing lessons are included for those of us that need them. I'll be bringing my own vegie burger cause meat choices are beef, beef and more beef.
I'm working at having my fun and still maintain my SP journey. I didn't always have this kind of confidence when attending these events and gave up going to them once joining SP. I just didn't want any distraction or temptation to make me stumble
SparkPeople has led me to discover my old confident self; a side of me that had long remained buried. I had allowed myself to become an unrecognizable semblance of who I used to be. The most surprising thing is the fact that I'm cautiously opening up to share a bit about myself. I can't wait to discover more or learn some new surprising thing about me while on this road of self-discovery and growth journey. I'm so glad I accidentally stumbled upon the SparkPeople website. Thank you Sparkguy for making this site available to prosper all that encounter and join it. It is a most grand and generous gift to us all.
