2nd chemo treatment

Friday, August 12, 2011

How I thank the Lord for his grace and mercy towards me as I entered my 2nd chemo treatment. I have had no side effects of the treatment no fatigue no nausea no feeling sick to my stomach NOTHING and I cant help but to give the Lord thanks for answering all your prayers for me. I stand in AWE of the Lords faithfulness to his word to me. He said he would never leave me or forsake me he is always by my side. My doctor and the nurses look at me in wonderment and shock of how well Im doing. When they ask me the standard question of how Im feeling I look at them and I said Im doing wonderful and I give the Lord all the praise.

As I sat with the chemo running through my body I couldnt help to think of the word of God when he says rejoice always in everything you go through. Even in the storms of your life REJOICE!!

Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!!

Psalm 33:1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.

Habakkuk 3:18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

2Corinthians 6:10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

The Lord has taught me that as the storms of my life comes he gives us a message of hope for a storm tossed world. A message of hope for people who have lost hope.

Isaiah 41:10 says "Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Isaiah 43:2 says that "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you. And when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you." God is not missing in action when our lives gets stormy. God is here! Encouraging us. Helping us. Orchestrating every situation and circumstance in accordance with the purpose of His will.

God uses the storms in our lives to get our attention. To make us more receptive to His word. There are five different storms that affect people today and make them more open to divine influence. The first storm is Disease. When we or someone we love has a life threatening disease, we become more receptive to the One who has power over that disease. When the chemotherapy isn’t working. And the prescriptions keep coming. And the bills start accumulating. Many of us start looking beyond the 4 walls of the hospital. And we start looking to the most powerful physician of them all.

Another storm that hits people today is divorce. Nobody goes into a marriage thinking that they’re going to get a divorce. But sometimes it happens. And the pain is so real that people are often more open to spiritual healing than they’ve ever been before. The Bible says in Psalm 34:19 that ’the Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and He saves those who are crushed in spirit."

A third storm that hits people is Disaster. When towns are hit by all the tornados and earthquakes that have happened this year they turned to the Lord. Disasters are terrible. I don’t wish them on anybody. But they’re also an open door for us to show people the love of God.

A fourth storm that hits people is Depression. We don’t always know why people get depressed. In 1 Kings 19, Elijah got depressed just from being burned out on life. But when people are discouraged, they sometimes become more open to the One who can make them Encouraged. God is using that storm in their life.

And a fifth storm that affects people today is death. Death can be one of the most traumatic things that can happen to a family. But it’s also a time when people are ready to hear from the Lord.

My prayer is that you and I would become more sensitive to the storms that are stirring in our lives. We need to let people know that even when there’s nothing that we can do. There’s something that God can do. That God cares about their stormy circumstances. And not only does God give us a message of hope for the storm. And a ministry for the storm. But He also gives us a purpose for the storm.

We don’t always realize it at the time. But there is a reason for everything that happens under heaven. There’s a reason why we experience what we experience. And like Paul, we can have faith that in all things God will work for the good of those who love Him.

My message to you is that you can trust God when your life gets stormy. You can trust God when things go unexpectedly wrong. And you can trust God even when things seem hopeless. I pray that you would be receptive to His love. And that you would allow Him to still the storms in your life, use the storm you are going through to praise his name and be a mighty witness unto him let those around you see his great grace and mercy upon your life you never know who you are blessing with the Lord as they watch you go through your strom, you bring them to Jesus and isnt that what its all about???

Much love to all

Jesus first

I know there is a reason that I did not read this until today, so I am thanking God for providing and meeting all needs, but especially spiritual needs! God certainly does speak to us through our storms, and brings us through them!

Just read this today, Griff. What strikes me is this: What the devil intends for evil, God works for good, as we know the verse of Romans 8:28. God takes what Satan tries to destroy us with. Satan celebrates a little victory, then God takes it and makes it fruitful for His kingdom.
May God continue to triumph, be the victorious one, in this world. Always.

You are a blessing to all of us Griff. What an awesome God that we have that blesses us even in our storms. I've had my share of storms over the past 4 years and they've taught me so much about how much God loves us. How comforting it is to know that Our God doesn't give up on us, He continually works (especially in our storms)to form and shape us into His likeness. I praise God for every rememberance of you Griff. What an awesome reminder that has blessed me this day.
You see, if I had read this on the 12th, I would have been blessed but today, when I needed it the most, I'm doubly blessed.
    Love you!

What a mighty blog, Griff. You always challenge my soul, lift up my spirit, make me want to blow the trumpet of praise, dance with a tambourine, brandish the sword of the word and shield of faith all at the same time.

Two things I want to share with you. The first is from Isaiah 41:10, which you quoted. When God tells us He will uphold us with His right hand, we know He means our Jesus, who ascended to sit at the right hand of the Father. Ahhhhhh so sweet to be held in His nail-scarred hand and feel His everlasting arms underneat it all!!

The other thing is a song that touches my heart in so many ways. The leader of Casting Crowns wrote it for a family who had lost a child to death, and it "just so happened" that it finished production just days before Katrina. When they played this at their concert here in my town a month or so ago, there wasn't a dry eye in the place. The anointing of God was so heavy, His presence so near in that place. I pray it blesses you, my precious, beloved sister.

As usual, you'll need to take care pasting this into your browser since SparkPage and blog comments do not yet have an add a link feature so that you can just click on a hot link.

I needed to read this blog. Thank you. I have been questioning my storms for some time now, without an answer. I've copied a portion of your blog to put in my blog. Hope that's okay? I wish you the best with the chemo, and am sure you are going to impact a lot of people with your faith. emoticon emoticon emoticon
