This has been the longest week of my life - I swear it! It has been full of a few ups but mostly downs.
On Sunday, Tony and I celebrated our 5-yr Anniversary after he worked a 12-hr shift. Keep in mind that both kids were home, Keiran was still awake, and all we wante to do was curl up on the couch together and watch a movie. It never happened! Instead, however, we got to have dessert together:
The woman that lives underneath us is a wonderful baker. She made the cake from scratch that afternoon and sent up 2 slices for Tony and I. We ended up having to share with Keiran because he refused to go to bed otherwise. lol That's my boy.
Monday started off pretty good but about halfway through the morning, I realized that my lil man didn't seem to be feeling well. He came in and curled up on our bed and stayed there pretty much all day.
His fever set in by lunch time and we have been fighting it since. Fortunately, it just seems to be a summer cold and since he has no other symptoms, there hasn't been a need to bring him into the doctor. We were told to keep alternating tylenol and motrin to keep the fever down until it breaks completely. He finally seems to be doing a little better today. We're alternating every 4 hrs instead of every 2-3. His energy levels are still low as well, but those have been up and down through the whole week.
Having a sick child has meant Mama having to put him first and myself second. Somehow, despite being super tired, I've still managed to push through and do workouts everyday except for 2 days off, which I took earlier in the week because of Keiran being sick. My strength training has slacked off to fewer days because of my energy levels, but I am still working on it. I'm hoping to get in some strength training every day next week since it's part of the M2W August Challenge for the rest of the month.
There is a definite downfall to living in the south this time of year. Other than the fact that we're always on Hurricane Watch, the regular storm season is completely random. Here are some of the pictures I took at the beginning of the week:
The sunset was absolutely gorgeous.
These were both taken just before sunset, less than 5 minutes apart. This one was taken not even 30 minutes later:
It has been like this the rest of the week, even until today. To give you an idea of what I mean by crazy, here are two photos I took about a minute apart in the exact same part of the sky (right before I started typing this blog):
We were supposed to go to Atlanta this weekend for a friend's wedding but had to back out. Tony wasn't able to get today off as planned, which means we would have missed the wedding (it's tonight). I have been really bummed about it but they know I'm there in spirit. Instead, we'll be spending the weekend together as a family before school starts on Monday. Tony still took the weekend off just for that reason. Hopefully Keiran will be feeling better so we can do something fun. Daisha will be going to a friend's Birthday Sleepover tomorrow night so maybe we'll go to the SplashPark or something during the day. And Tony's parents are (tentatively) coming over on Sunday. So much for relaxing altogether. lol
We have started planning for Keiran's birthday, which is now less than a month away. We've decided not to do a big party this year like we did last year. We're just going to do something small with Tony's parents and a friend's family. He loves Spongebob Squarepants (UGH!) so we're going to make a themed cake and make "Crabby Patties" (aka hamburgers). Simple and easy, just the way I like it. I can't believe he's going to be 3!!!
On a happier note... FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE! Okay, so it's only pre-season, but it works. I'm a bigger football fan than Tony is. GO TAMPA BAY BUCS! Tony is a New England Patriots fan (YUCK!). lol And where we live, college football is a way bigger deal than the NFL. It's a battle here when it comes to Alabama and Auburn. And because I grew up in Florida, the FSU/Florida game is still a big battle too! This means lots of time with friends on the weekend, but I'm determined to keep the junk food to a minimum.
I'm off to crank out some cardio early today. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that next week is better. I will definitely be getting my workouts done earlier in the day with Daisha back in school. After school will be focused on homework and preparing for the next day. And we only have one more week off until Girl Scouts starts back up. I haven't decided for sure how I feel about it for the year. I'm not going to be a co-leader this year and apparently our leader is changing how things are done. Granted, she said the same thing last year and fell back into the old ways only a few weeks in, so I'm not setting my expectations too high.
I hope all of my SparkFriends have a wonderful weekend - HAPPY SPARKING!
