The witch, the wizard, and the walk

Greetings Sparkiverse!

I'm celebrating four years of sparking today. I know! It's crazy!

So, here it is --

THE WITCH emoticon

I'm doing well, thank you for asking. emoticon After regaining most of the weight I'd lost over the first three years, I got super serious after my knee surgery, and have emoticon emoticon 24 lbs. in the past 5 1/2 weeks. I hit my first 10% goal this weekend and am pushing to make my next one by the end of September. emoticon

The crutches are history, although I'm still stylin' a full leg brace. I'm a sexy beast all right. I went from doing seven half marathons last year to being unable to walk to the post box and back, but I'm slowly working up. I attempted three miles yesterday but paid for it later on. So, it's healing slowly, but I'm still really excited about my progress and anxious to keep losing weight and building my mileage.

THE WIZARD emoticon

This is long overdue. My friend and I saw the final Harry Potter movie in IMAX 3D.

My friend is taking on He Who Must Not Be Named But Who'd Better Mind His Ps and Qs. There's nothing like a pair of party favour glasses and a plastic wand to make a girl feel invincible! emoticon

Before the movie, the movie folks rolled in a cart filled with various confections and assorted bonbons, playing the HP theme music, and in a passable English accent, "Anything from the trolley?" Brilliant! One chocolate emoticon please!

Chatting with our friendly trolleyman Robert, he kindly showed us his dual loyalties!

(Special thanks to Robert for allowing me to share this with you.)
Check out the gorgeous scarf - a present from the ever fabulous NIGHTSKYSTAR!

He also has a tattoo, which he displayed along with a little leg

That's what I'm talkin' about, ladies -- and I think he's single!

Even though she gets short shrift in the films, in honour of Tonks, I "did" my hair. This is my first hair colour experience, so I was a bit on the conservative side. I wish now that I'd done even more!

And finally --

THE WALK emoticon

This knee surgery has really set me back. I have been "knee-habbing" six hours a day for six weeks now and I've just started to test it on short walks. Yesterday, I tried to walk three miles at a 20 minute per mile pace. By the second mile, I thought I was on a death march! emoticon I eventually finished with a 20:40 mile pace, but it's a far cry from what I could do a few months ago. I'm going to keep losing weight, exercising, taking care of the knee, and I hope to race for the first time in almost a year when I relay with 50FITNFUN at the VA Beach Rock n Roll 1/2 next month. emoticon

Wish us luck!

Thanks to everyone for four fabulous years! emoticon

24 pounds in 5 1/2 weeks???? How'd ya do that?

What kind of knee surgery did you have? Great to see you getting back to things. It is a big undertaking to do after a surgery I am sure.

Happy emoticon Sparkversary!!! Way to go sticking it out for so long!! You do have to be careful with the knee though. It will let you know when you can fully get back into it! Don't want any set backs..

You are mah-velous dahling!! However, I agree with ENDUROVET--really-- a month from now, a race?? You are going to get your doc & pt's blessing for that, right????

My 19 year old autistic son blew his knee up in high school playing kickball. (He got a big kick out of telling people it was a tragic kickball accident.) I remember how hard he worked to rehab, and how scary it was when he first started really working out again. He never did go back to karate, I think he just never could get used to wearing his brace for workouts (his doc told him brace for sports forever.)

Your determination is inspiring, and I have no doubt at all that you will achieve everything you want to achieve. emoticon

What an adventure you've been having! Congrats again on the great progress you've been making with your weight. I've regained just over 20 of my stupid pounds and am going to borrow some inspiration from you to re-lose them! Good for you for getting off that first 10%! That's a great achievement!

Keep working the knee - but be careful!

    BR>P.S. Love the hair!!!

Firstly, CONGRATS on your progress!!! You are such a rock star!

Secondly, I LOVE YOUR PINK TONKS STREAKS!!! Beautiful! (could've done with a little more of your gorgeous face though...)

Your trolleyman seems a little confused, but that tattoo is HOTT (in an only-a-bookworm-would-be-turned-on-

Cat - FABULOUS blog! Thanks for the update. You're doing great. I'm sorry about the pain on the walk but you will build back up. I still did not see the movie...I'm actually going to go look up the matinees right now and maybe go this week....

You are doing amazing. Looks like your having a great time too. I can't believe you did that much walking yesterday with the knee so fresh from surgery. Totally awesome! Keep it up!

Great blog, Cat! I especially love the inserted emoticons to help tell the story! Entertaining and informative at the same time, as always.

I love Robert's tattoo, Dark Mark, etc. What fun!

And the trolley thing? Brilliant homage to the books and movies! I wish our movie theater had thought of it.

And your hair - what a neat way to honour Tonks!

4 years on sparks? I think I've hit that mark as well, and not realized. Wow. Time flies when we're gaining and losing and gaining and losing, right?

I'm so proud of you for pushing through the cycle though, and getting yourself out of it! You are making great progress this summer.

You are, as always, an inspiration to me.

Sounds like the movie was much fun. Maybe chair-exercises would be good at this point ????

Wow, emoticon on the progress, Cat!!! You seem to be doing great. We won't be able to recognise you around the hall of Hogwarts in September!! Keep up the great work and have a great (remaining) summer!
