I can't believe myself!

Saturday, August 06, 2011

I'm so angry at myself! I couldn't push myself to swim today. I took a nap instead. No one understands that skipping a workout that I created already is NOT an option. I had to increase my calories per day to help my weight loss from my swimming and when I don't swim I mess up the calorie count and I might actually gain weight! I feel so bad about myself. When I'm not able to push myself I become weak, and no one likes a weak person, including myself.

TAKE IT EASY! Don't sweat missing one workout. In the grand scheme of weight loss, ONE silly little workout is not much. It only becomes a problem when you stop working out completely.

Remember this: The perfect is the enemy of the good. What does that mean? It means that if you try to be perfect, you may end up giving up trying altogether because you can't BE perfect. You can only do what you can do, and doing SOMETHING is better than giving up completely. So don't let the fact that you skipped one workout keep you from picking up again tomorrow.

And don't forget that it doesn't matter on a DAILY basis whether you eat more calories than you burn, but what your LONG-TERM calorie balance is. So, keep your calories where they are. Don't adjust them down. Just swim 5 more minutes (or however long) each workout. Or go 5% faster.

You're NOT weak. You're also not perfect. And that is ok. You're human. Accept that you are human and that you can't possibly be perfect. If you WERE perfect, you wouldn't be someone anyone wanted to hang out with, anyhow, so rejoice in the fact that you're human. And get off your own case!

If you took a nap, your body needed it. You need to get adequate sleep to lose weight, too, so just accept that your body knew what it needed, and look at the nap as one way you're taking care of yourself.
