Healthy Grocery Shopping on a very strict budget

Saturday, August 06, 2011

This just in! I despise grocery shopping when there are extremely limited funds to purchase food!!

It is extremely hard to eat healthy when you have next to nothing to spend on food. It is also difficult when everyone else in the house is not trying to lose weight, and want to have a few unhealthy snacks in the house.

Why is it that the leaner the meat, the more expensive it is? And Why in the world does it cost more to purchase healthy foods, than it does to purchase "junk"?

Then society wonders why the majority of America is overweight. Especially with the way the economy is right now, many people can't afford to but the healthy foods, so they have to make do with what they can afford.

This is soooo frustrating to me, especially since I am one of the many Americans out there that are flat broke, have children to support, and am actually trying to do something about my weight and my health.

Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to save money to purchase healthier food items? I wish I had the know how and the storage space to extreme coupon, like the people on tv.

I agree. It is harder to eat healthily. It is also harder with not always being able to go to the store to pick up the fresh fruits and vegetables daily like people used to.
