Finding my voice

Saturday, August 06, 2011

My youngest daughter is getting married in one month. So you can bet that the "bridezilla" syndrome is rearing its ugly head at our house this month!
Yesterday I had finally had enough of her curt responses.
This is what I told her: I love you. I am not mad at you. I am tired of the way you respond to your Dad and me. It is not what you say, it is the tone you are using.
Her response: I love you.
Last night we had a lovely dinner & a movie with her and her fiancée emoticon

This experience has let me know that I can say would I need to say without getting all bent out of shape. I was calm, I let her know what was bothering me and IT WORKED!!!

Three Cheers for finding your voice... not only did you do it "gently", but you had a GREAT result! Practice, practice, practice! The first few times are the worst!!!

emoticon great job. If you get a chance have her watch an episode of the tv show "bridezilla" so she will see for herself that is how she is acting too.

My youngest daughter got married last year. I will surely be praying for you. I remember all the plans and I do remember the stress. But then the day comes and everything is beautiful and all the stress fades and God just blesses the day beyond belief. :-)

So glad "bridezilla" was able to hear what you were saying! The emotions just run so high during wedding planning.

I'll bet she felt as good about things as you did after you spoke your peace and I do mean PEACE. Good for you.
