August 1st in Photos

Today has been a great day and a good start toward my August Goals. I got in 21 minutes of strength training and 8 mins of cardio today with Wii Fit (before my kids interrupted). I got outdoors for a little while to the pool with the kids and a friend and her kids (they live a couple of buildings down from us)...

I did 20 mins of cardio while we there before taking a break to play with the kids. Then, of course, as the last couple of weeks have gone...

I am so sick of the rain... I know we've been in a drought and need the rain. But really, do we need it all at once!?!

My hubby's hours are finally slowing back down for a few days before getting crazy again. I'm glad because he came home tonight totally exhausted. He was patching a hole in our air mattress when I found him like this:

I don't think I'm going to get my steps in today, but not because I haven't been working toward it. I forgot to put my pedometer back on after we left the pool, so that's several hours of moving around that weren't counted. We'll see what happens though - I haven't hit my cardio goal of 60 mins for the day so I am probably going to do a dvd of some sort. There's still hope.

I hope that August is off to a good start for all of my SparkFriends!

I absolutely agree! I managed a BK for 3.5 of the 4.5 yrs I worked there while finishing college. I honestly believe that everyone should be required to work in a fast food restaurant at some point in their life so they know how hard of a job it really can be. :)

We were threatened with rain yesterday and lucky for me it held out while I was at the zoo with LO. We got in the apartment just in time though because it poured for about 5 minutes after we got home. I used to work in the fast food business. I know how busy it can get. It's not as easy as everyone thinks.

He's a manager at a local truck stop... this is a busy time of year since we live about 30 mins north of Gulf Shores, AL and the truck stop is along I10. He runs the Subway restaurant inside and has been working short-handed while one of his employees is on maternity leave and the two new ones are being trained.

Can you send the rain my way? We haven't had rain in so long I fear Texans may have forgotten what it is. I have a hard time getting used to it since I'm from Missouri where we hardly ever have droughts. Poor Hubby! What does he do?
