Finished my second week of training for a winter marathon. Met some very nice people in this group. I've run with this group before and most of the people at my slow pace are young and female. It seems the bantering back and forth never stops. I have to admit I add quite a bit to the mix. That is something good. It really helps make the runs more enjoyable and the time to go by very quickly.
One challenge I have is remembering to drink and to eat. When I run on my own I am very disciplined about eating and drinking at specific times and specific amounts. When I run with a group I often forget what I am to do when and in the past have paid for it with a lack of energy on longer runs. This is one area I really need to focus on more.
I find running alone for hours is great fun, but running for hours with a group is even better because I get to make friends and I always learn so much about life through the experience of others. I normally listen much more than I talk. Since I run with mostly young women some of the conversations get very interesting.
People I ran with two years ago are still great friends. That to me is the amazing side of running. Runners really do make the best friends and people to always be cherished.
I'm really looking forward to this season of running and seeing if there truly is one more marathon left in this body.

Of course there's one more marathon in you!! I know it because running is in your heart. :) You really enjoy it...since the first time I came across your page I could tell you really love running. I come and go with it. I've been battling burn out and stress. It's motivating to come to a real runner's blog and I just have to get doing what you're doing! Thanks for sharing!!
