Stress is the body's reaction to a change that requires a physical, mental or emotional adjustment or response.
This is what my body has been going through lately. I have a lot of stress happening in my life right now. With my father-in-law having cancer and starting chemo next week to my cousin / friend being in the hospital for a infection to my son leaving for a week long camp starting tomorrow.
The things you do to your body when it has stress is the key. What I have been trying to do is make sure I am eating right and getting in my exercise. But sleep..... I have been struggling with sleep and that causing me tiredness and headaches during the day.
So I am going to make a change........
I am going to only work a half day today so that I can help get my son all packed up for his trip. This is a new adventure for him (and me) where he will be going to a week long scouting camp (that has bears!) by himself. In years past he has always had his dad with him. I am going to keep in my head that he will be ok for the week. That the adults will help him out and protect him if needed. That everything I am packing for him will help him with the elements. (They are sleeping in canvas tents with no screens. Bugs are a problem as well as weather.) I am also going to take this afternoon to fit in my workout and maybe even catch a short cat nap.
I am going to stop worrying about keeping up with the house cleaning. We have been so busy lately with everything going on that I haven't been getting my cleaning done. I am a super clean freak so to see the house the way it is, is stressing me out. I am putting up the stop sign and try not to worry about it. I have a few days off next week where I can get some cleaning done.
I am going to continue to be there for my father and mother-in-law. Starting chemo next week will be really hard. They have been so strong through all of this!
I am going to visit with my cousin in the hospital and hopefully make her smile and / or laugh. I am also going to enjoy some family time this Saturday with my hubby's summer reunion.
And this weekend..... I am going to catch up on the Z'zzzzz I have been missing. I am going to make sure I start getting to bed at a decent time and try to de-stress so that I can fall asleep quickly.
Doing these things will help me keep the stress levels at bay. Cause we can all admit, stress happens but it is how you deal with it becomes the key. I will not let stress get me down or cause me to fail.
