My first round of FEF
Friday, July 29, 2011
I came into this round of the FEF challenge late. So I didn't have a long or detailed set of goals. I wanted to get a feel for the team and gain some rapport. But I have gained some insight that I feel is vital to my journey.
Without boring you with long winded details (of course I'm always long winded), I wanted to share that this has been a long week for my sister. Her best friend has yet again tried to make her feel bad about her weight loss journey. Note I said again. This gal lives a couple hours away and so their friendship tends to be via the phone and email for long stretches of time.
In the early days when the subject would come up, Pam would get negative comments implying that she would get bored or couldn't do this long term. So she QUIT talking about it.
So what has brought the subject back up? Well 2 weeks ago we took this gal and her roommate out to lunch. She hadn't seen us in over a year and imagine her surprise when we are over 80 pounds lighter.
I've shared this to make THIS point. Lifestyle changes are difficult. They are especially difficult IF you do not have a support system. I choose to surround myself with cheerleaders oppose to "nay sayers". There will be people on the sidelines waiting to see you fail or thinking it won't last. Ignore them.
So what have I gained from my mini experience with the Sunny Gals Team? I've added to my support system. I am getting to know ladies that I am sure that if I met in person, I would like instantly :) It's important to surround yourself folks that congratulate you......encourage you.......challenge you to be better :)
