The Ups and downs....

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Very frustrating week. My husband is a contractor and in this horrid economy we are really stressed that he will lose half his pay or his job entirely. It is a family business which makes it all the more stressful. Unfortunately no one is really remodeling these days and the price of materials has shot up so high that most people just decide that starting a project is too much for them at the moment. He and his dad are trying to start a company that does green energy audits, but again, not many folks are into investing these days- what this translates to is a VERY stressful environment for all of us.

Consequently, because of the job uncertainty, I opted to not go to the doctor last week- why one may ask- because on the off chance that something would be 'really' wrong, I couldn't take that gamble- if something would be really wrong and we lost our insurance, then I would have a pre-existing condition- not something we can afford. There is something so wrong with a health care system that keeps you from the doctor because fear of increase in premium. At any rate as far as my weight loss journey goes, it may be SLOW but as long as it is steady I will continue to forge ahead.

On the plus side, I ate a larger bowl of ice cream today but it wasn't nearly the calories that I thought! I did still work into my meal plan- not that I am going to go binge on ice cream, but it's nice to know that a slip up did not ruin that calorie counts for the day.

Yes, there really is something WRONG with the health care system. You're sick but you avoid the Dr. so your premiums don't go up??? That is RIDONKULOUS!! Move to Canada sweetie.
I hope your country gets the health care reform it deserves. Everyone deserves the right to good and proper health care.

Well done - that you made room for ice cream in your calories ... emoticon emoticon

Sorry to hear about your husbands work - let's hope this economy gets a move on soon.

It really is terrible that you are unable to go to the doc .... it is a CRIME that you have to choose. I lived in England for a time (when I first got married) and it was weird to be able to go to the doc and not have to worry about paying. If you were really sick you were able to see the doc. If not, there was a wait. I still think it's the way to go though. Hope you are ok.

Keep your chin up ... you did a GREAT job with your calories today! Baby steps ....
