Starvation Diets Work!

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

I have been STRUGGLING to get to where I want to be. My goal has been to get to 125, but I have been 132-133 for the past TWO years! Sure, I have bounced around a bit, but whenever I get below, I get back up.

I literally have tried everything:

Paleo, cleanses, high fiber, vegetarian, strength training only, cardio only, p90x, jillian michaels workouts, running long distances, running sprints, intervals (not all at once of course!)

I looked at my body and realized all the things I wanted to work on. I wanted to tone my arms and stomach. I wanted to improve my overall fitness. I wanted to be able to run a faster mile time. I wanted to lose weight. I wanted to sleep better.

And most of that was not happening..so I decided to try something new--and it has WORKED!

I am on a starvation diet. I have cut out everything that is bad for me:

Staying up late worrying about getting through my next work out
Beating myself up if I miss one day of working out
Picking apart all the things I dislike about my body
Comparing myself to all my friends
Not allowing myself to relax
Feeling like spending less than an hour in the gym is a failure
Not letting myself enjoy a treat ever

The only thing I am allowed is positivity. I wake up and pick one body part that I like. That is my focus for the day. Whenever I start to feel badly about something, I remind myself of my focus.

Today's body part? My freckles (not technically a body part, but eh, I count it!)

Some people hate freckles, but I like mine! That's me with my nephew Christian (who just turned 5 in March! How time flies)

I am also allowing myself time to relax. Yesterday I spent the morning three hours gardening. The old me would be beating myself up for not doing another three hours in the other half of the garden after lunch. I was nuts!

Of course, I am still eating healthy most of the time and exercising regularly, but I need a balance. It is summer and it is OK if I want to eat ice cream one day if I can balance it out with what else I eat that day.

So, I highly recommend this diet. I've already noticed a huge difference!! :)

Disclaimer (for anyone who was unsure): I am against starvation diets of the food variety

I am all about food! Haha that's what got me here. I will never sacrifice my health just to be skinny. I'd much rather be my fit self than get down to a certain number.

Starving is NOT the way to go! You MUST eat. Perhaps your body is happy where you are. One thing for sure, you have learned to maintain! That has been something I too have learned, but for me, I have been a TURTLE with weight loss, it has been one major struggle , it is not just that I have about 22 lbs. to go, ALL of it has been a struggle. DO check out this ad I found on Spark people. I took the test, found out I was severly hypothyroid, and started on what they recommended. HOPING to see real results! Check the website out..... http://www.1-thyroid.com/?gclid=CPS

Thank you for making me smile today! I really needed to do that as I have been very frustrated by my plateau. I like your freckles, too, and that is the World's Cutest Baby!
