One Way to Have a Great Weekend
Monday, July 25, 2011
I’m all for boasting about having a great weekend and sharing the details. These moments are something to reflect upon when the chips are low. I had the opportunity to be treated by my best friend, Regina, to lunch at Rustic, located at the Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville, Sonoma County.
The lunch was tasty (pizza, mixed green salad, a glass of Director’s Cut Zinfandel 2007, lemon tart for dessert). What pleased me most, though, were the surroundings.
Upstairs, memorabilia from Coppola’s The Godfather movie. There was the desk that the godfather used in the film. There was a board with photos taken during the filming and notes that Coppola took when he was listing the actors he was considering for the roles in the film.
Downstairs there was a beauty of a car used in Coppola’s film, Tucker.
Later, we drove to the small town of Geyserville and visited a vintage shop where I took a photo of one of the old hangings for sale.
On the wall of another building , a dog salon, was this sign:
The next day, we visited the Safari West Wildlife Preserve where I got a photo of a lemur. I found his face to be haunting.
I hadn’t seen my best friend in almost two months so it was nice to explore these places together and share gossip about all the stars making the headlines lately. The weekend prepared me for my early morning run this a.m. which I seemed to do with added energy. I had been invigorated by my joyous weekend with my best friend.
