33- 35 week update

Friday, July 22, 2011

So I have been a little behind on writting a blog for each week of my pregnancy. This is part to do to the fact that I have become more tired and had more things to do to get ready for Sammy as the end is close. In week 33, Mike and I went to Albuquerque for the baby shower!!! We got lots of stuff for Sammy, not to mention a lot of cute clothes!! My Aunts threw me my shower and took lots of pictures, so once they email me some of the photos I will post some of them. ]

After the shower we went to Babies R' Us and got all the essentials that we did not get on the registry. We finally got a crib!! I also started to batch cook some recipes so that instead of cooking once Sammy arrives I can just put something into the oven. I don't want to have to rely on getting take out all the time, and I know that if we have home cooked meals they will be healther and cheaper than getting takeout all the time.

So in week 34, we got paint for Sammy's room and painted his room. We painted it green on the bottom, blue on top and then a tree on one wall. We are going for a farm/ garden look. I started washing all of Sammy's clothes, I just love looking at all the little onies wondering what he will look like in them!!

I had my two week doctor's appointment on Wednesday, and found out that even with a low sodium diet and taking it easy my blood pressure has gone up again (140/98). I know offically have hypertension and have to do a 24 hour urine test to see if I have preclamsia. If I have preclamsia I might have to have Sammy next week. I will be 35.5 weeks then, but its still scary to think I might have to have him early. I will find out on Monday or Tuesday of next week if I have preclamsia. If I don't have it I have another midwife appointment on Friday to have an ultrasound! I really hope I don't have preclamsia and Sammy gets some more time to gain some weight!!

Its really frustrating that I am doing everything "right" but still have high blood pressure. I got medication for it, that will hopefully help to decrease. My midwife said that since all my other numbers ( glucose, resting heart rate) are good they high blood pressure is due to being pregnant and might just run in my family. I'm adopted and don't know much about my family medical history, so this is a high possiblity.

So on to more happy news.... yesterday I offically am 25 weeks pregnant!! Sammy now weighs about the same as a honeydew melon! He should weight about 5 1/4 pounds now nd about 18 inches long. He might be a little smaller due to my high blood pressure, but the ultrasound that we get next Friday will tell us his size and postion ( hopefully in the down postion and not breech).

Here is a picture of me last night at 35 weeks in Sammy's nursery. We only have the crib set up now, and the rest of the room is empty. Hopefully by the end of the week we can put all the other furniture in. Can't wait to meet my little man!!!

I'm glad your Sammy is doing well-mine is too! ;) You nursery is super cute! The painting of the tree is so welcoming and "nature-y". Glad you got your crib-and set it up (that is what makes me feel finally ready for baby!)
I'm sorry you are having a problem with b/p, and I pray you don't have pre-eclampsia, so Sammy can stay in there a few more weeks! :) Keep us posted.

I have gone rounds with hypertension with 2 of my other pregnancies, I asked my doctor about it and he said you can't do much about it even by working on low sodium, exercise etc... I hope that everything can go okay for you with it.

I love the baby's room! It looks great! Keep us posted with how you're feeling and how the bp is!!
