Loving the Summer 5% Challenge!

Today is the 6th day of the Summer 5% Challenge and it's going GREAT! This Challenge is just what I needed. After 6 months on SP I was getting off track a little too often & slacking on the exercise and tracking/staying in food range.
Summer 2011 5% Challenge Team
I highly recommend participating in a team challenge. This has completely gotten me back on track. I committed to exercise at least 30 minutes a day for the 56 days of the Challenge. We get points for exercise, tracking food, & staying within calorie range. Of course this is for us but now we're accountable to and responsible for our team! I want to pull my weight and get as many points for my team as possible. That means making sure I'm in calorie range which is really important to my continued success. That means I think before I stick something in my mouth that I might regret later. That means I go a little further on the treadmill.
This Challenge has completely reinvigorated, refocused, and remotivated me. I've met some great people on my team and started to train for a 5K (SP's 5K Your Way Rookie Training Program.) At a time when I could be slacking, I'm pushing myself instead! The weekly assignments will only continue to make this journey a permanent lifestyle change. 8 weeks is a good amount of time to consistently make healthy choices.
So do a Challenge; you'll be happy you did! I'm looking forward to the next one and would like to step up to being a team leader. Wishing everyone success in this Challenge, no matter what team they're on (though I have to write, GO TEDDYBEARS!)
