Good Wednesday Sparkfam! Its not a hump day for me but I did indeed hump yesterday. Its scorching here in Chicago like in 90% of the country so I expect no sympathies. I did enjoy 2 sugar free fudgisicles. YUMMY! I bought them Saturday, drove straight home, they melted through the box! Seriously! I was outdone but I put those bad boys in the freezer & I am eating them. Went to another store 2 blocks from house only to find out they sell them for a $1 a box! WOW! I was bamboozled. lol

So let me tell you why yesterday was my preview of hump day. Well I was done doing my work for the doing a little surfing on web at work correcting att for a few overcharges on my bill, when BAM! I get a call from oldest son, my baby Tristan 14yrs old, was hit by a car while crossing the street! He was walking actually crossed the street when one of his friends tried to smack him & he stepped back & was hit by a car. I am no fan of when pedestrians can't make up there minds but I try to make sure they are all clear. Anyway, she clipped his left leg, he went up on the hood of the car the hit the windshield with his elbow cracking it. My oldest son was like the worst thing was my son broke the windshield. I had to tell, listen he is a pedestrian, he doesn't have to pay for her windshield! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Police & ambulance were called. My husband told the ambulance to leave. So of course I had to take him to emergency when I got home.

Got home told him to clean up. He scrapped his elbow but he was limping. He kept complaining of his leg so I knew I had to take him cause it could be broken or internal injuries? So we take him about 7pm, my husband dropped us off cause parking is a mess in & around stroger hospital. We got in & just as we were registering, a family were trying to find out about their loved one & the news was grim. He was 18yrs old. At that point, I held onto my baby cause it could've been so much worse that it was. She gets a wheel chair after taking all my personal info. I am like do you seriously need one? He said he did. Well, the night was long but we got to radiology about 9pm. He was back there for 30mins which meant his leg was more than just strained. The doctor came to talk to me & told us that he had fractured his tibia. For those of you who don't know, its the bone grows to make us tall. My son wants to be 6ft or taller....So we had to get it wrapped up in a splint. They made an appointment for his cast today.

They drained blood from his knee and he didn't even cry. The doctor thought he was quite brave & they let me film them putting on the cast. I am so drained from being, mom, advocate, nurse & maid to my son. He is so happy, I took off today & they gave me tomorrow off too.

He is well & I am off to sleep, did get my walking in but didn't get my Jillian workout on. So I will try to do it on Friday. My food hasn't been the greatest but I did get a salad in & a nature valley fruit bar & some sunflower seeds in.

God bless Sparkfam & enjoy everyday to the fullest!

Dee I am so thankful your son is okay otherwise! That must have been a traumatic experience for everyone involved! Take care of yourself and happy you can have a few days off with him too. Can you rent movies or get movies from the library to entertain him? I know crutches are a big pain (literally too) so getting around is hard. I hope he heals up very soon. emoticon

Hello Dee! So Glad His Personal angel was there to keep him from getting hurt worse. Years ago o worked in the Biggest ER in Tulsa & I know it was the Grace of God because I was on the 11-7am & it stayed busy. I hated when there was death. Just have you crying. But Praise The Lord He's going to make a Full Recovery. You are a Freat Mother!

Sorry girl your baby got hurt! driver should been charged with something they know childrens out playing since school is out. I remember when my youngest boy used to run in the street he is special needs(working on safety with him). We don't live on a busy street but we were playing with a ball and he ran out in front a car. I did not think and I wanted to protect him I ran out to keep him safe. We got crazy looks from those folks but I did not care. that is my baby! Another time my oldest was play basketball with a chain basket and cut his hand into and needed stitches of course I closed my eyes when they sewed his hand. Our babies we want them safe. ...and woe unto those who hurt them.

What a day you had. If the heat wasn't bad enough, Teens tend to find ways to get hurt, we can only hope that they can learn from it. That driver should have been watching. I'm sure you'll get back on track. Hope all goes well with the injured leg.

Right now your son needs his mom and you did great. Glad that you also took him in or if he walked around on that leg he could of lost it. So don't worry about what happened with your food and exercise you did the most important thing today.
