I have heard that phrase before...a lot, around here: "It's not a sprint, it's a marathon." And it's so true. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. It's not a temporary goal, it's permanent.
This is slowly happening for me. I still love pizza and I cave sometimes. And it takes me a week to get back to where I was. Every time I do that, it pisses me off and it's longer before I do it again. But when I get on the WiiFit scale and see it...
"OMG! It's up again, not down!" My sweet, adorable DH says, "Come on...back it off to a month..." and I see this:
Well, that's a little better...and of course I know what he'll say next..."And a year..."
OHHHHHHHHHH! See...the TREND is downward. Makes me feel better.
It really does FEEL like a marathon sometimes. Painful, exhausting, like the finish line is never gonna show up.
But...yeah. I get it. I need to be reminded. Since the first of the year I have lost 45 pounds. It's slow, yes...with lots of ups and downs...but apparently more downs. Which in this case is a good thing. And that's the point, right? Over time...and for good.
