19 July - Training and Diet Update

Firstly confession: I have not been strict with myself and have let myself down with my recent training sessions and diet. The main reason for this is simply stress! I have not been overeating but rather eating the wrong things and not pushing myself in the gym.

Now I have got that off my chest I can carry on and get onto something a bit more positive! lol

I do however have a goal. I have entered into the UK Strongest Woman competition on 3rd September and consequently have got roped into doing Britains Strongest Woman two weeks later.

The events for UKs are as follows:

1. 65kgs farmers walk over 50m timed
2. log press 45kgs start to last woman standing
3. jeep pull - harness only
4. yoke 170kgs
5 medley = tyre flip, 67kgstone/60/70 barrel load , and a drag

I can do the farmers, just need to improve speed. Log press, I should get upto 55kg, not my strongest event. Jeep pull, I should be quite good at this as I have good bodyweight to use and managed to pull the fire truck in the gym. Yoke, this is going to be a bugger, again not my strongest event! The medley should be good, 200kg tyre i have not done before but will hopefully have a go at the weekend, I can lift an 80kg stone and can load upto 100kg barrel, not sure what the drag is but should be ok with that too!

So what I really need to focus on is my shoulders and compound movements.

This is all taking place about 3 weeks after the wedding and then two weeks after that I have rather stupidly entered Britains Strongest Woman which is as follows:

Log press 45-50kg (1 Point) 60-65 (2 points) and 70-75kg for reps (3 Points)
70kg farmers 25mtrs then 160-180kg frame carry 25mtrs
Tyre Flip 220-250kg tyre for reps
Deadlift 100kg (1 Point) 120kg (2 Points)
Loading race. 4 different items weighing items from 64kg upwards

In a nutshell, logs I will possibly do the first and second round, farmers are fine but need to speed up, frame carry not done so will have to have a go. Tyre not done specific weight but will have a go, deadlift fine did 100 for 10 as a warm up could probably do the same with 120. Loading I always like anyway!

So there we have it, all sorted with something to aim for. So am gonna be training hard and eating right to make sure I give myself the best possible chance for the comp. I would really like to at least be placed in both. The only thing is that Gemma Magnusson is in it, look her up on youtube. She will win hands down but I am more than happy to come second to such a legend! lol

I am trying out the keto diet whilst cycling my carbs. My body really actually does not do well on high carbs and although the transition period was difficult I actually felt a lot less bloated and heavy on this diet. It is high in good fats so you still get the energy but rather than being stored as fat your body starts breaking down your fat reserves. That is what I am hoping anyway!

I feel like I am starting all over again, but hey, it happens to us all from time to time.
