Summer Slimdown Update

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Some of you may remember a few weeks back when I posted about the Challenges for Sparkers with Lots to Lose Summer Slimdown. I had to set some goals and now it's time to give an update on how I'm doing with them.

1. Be able to run a 5K in less than 40 minutes.
I'll admit that I haven't been working on this one. My runs got halted when all of the trouble with some tenants started and I was afraid to go to the gym alone. However, now that they have all moved out it's time to get serious about this one.
2. Get my weight down into the 140s.
I think I may have finally busted my most recent plateau, which puts me on teh right track to achieving this goal. And now that I have another reason t be motivated - bridesmaid in a friend's October wedding - I know what I need to do to make this happen.
3. Walk/Run at least 10 miles each week.
I've been doing pretty good with this one actually, even if the miles are coming from walking rather than running.
4. Spend 30 minutes outdoors at least 3 days each week.
This one has been a struggle with the heat since the pool isn't refreshing when it feels like bath water, however, we're working to make it happen.
5. Finally get my craft supplies fully organized (taxes are coming so I get my new cabinet).
We are postponing the purchase of our new pantry cabinet, so getting the old one for my crafts is also poneponed. I will not let this deter me. We are getting ready to simplify our master bedroom so I'll still be able to better organize all of my stuff. That's a good thing since school supplies are getting ready to go on sale. This is the time of year I stock up on crayons, markers, construction paper, etc. :)

We also picked a bad habit that we wanted to work on throughout the summer. My bad habit has been my late night snacking. I tend to stay up late, which means that between dinner and bedtime I tend to get hungry and snack. I have been working hard on this one, though I have still been having those snacks a couple of nights a week just because I truly am hungry. I have gotten smarter about the snacks I've been eating, reaching for fresh fruit or whole-grain cheeze-its (which actually taste better than the regular ones).

All in all, I'm off to a pretty good start!

It looks like you are working away at those goals. To be honest, I don't remember what mine are. Hence, the reason for this blog idea!

Keep up the good work & let's finish this challenge season strong! emoticon
