Caution: Gyms are hazardous to your health!

Monday, July 11, 2011

To be precise, gym parking lots are hazardous to your health. I woke up this afternoon, and after stressing over my slow computer and long email session, I decided to work it off at the gym. First time I've darkened the door in a couple of months. I got in a pretty good workout, although my knee started acting up halfway through the treadmill, sat around for a bit, chatting with a couple of muscle bound young men, (eyecandy does wonders for the soul :)), gathered my things and walked out to the car. About halfway there I noticed a pair of swallows swooping around, and stopped to watch them. I enjoy nature, and we only have sparrows, blackbirds and robins around my building. All of a sudden, one of them went psycho and started divebombing me. Bear in mind that I was in the middle of a parking lot, 10 feet away from the nearest nesting possibility. That silly bird chased me all the way to my car, swooping and squawking the whole way. I learned a very important lesson. Angry Birds isn't just a game for smart phones.

We have a lot of mocking birds around here and they are really bad about doing that! Over the past month there's been a pair attacking my cat every time he wonders into the garden. Of course your bird may be secretly working with the gym as a little extra cardio on the way out emoticon

Red winged blackbirds are very territorial. I've seen them swooping and attacking large crows, a labrador, pedestrians. Truly crazy!

    Birds are freaky sometimes.
It's great that the gym is stress relief for you. That'll be helpful as you try to reach your Summer Challenge goals!
