Update – Where have I been?

Monday, July 11, 2011

Hey everybody. I haven’t been on SP in a month! What happened?

Well, I was getting discouraged with the movement on the scale so I decided I was going to stop weighing in and stop using the nutrition tracker, and just listen to my body.

A month later, nothing has really changed.

Obviously this strategy is not working, so I’ve got to do something else.

I don’t really understand why I’m not losing weight. It’s really discouraging. I’m at a plateau (apparently). It’s been 6 months since any major changes on the scale. I lose 2 pounds then by the end of the month I have gained them back.

About three weeks ago we ordered a Total Gym (you know the machine that Chuck Norris uses). I’ve worked out on it 3 days a week for the past two weeks about an hour each time for a full body workout. I’m also walking my dog every week day and burn about 250-350 calories depending on the route we walk. (Before I get any naysayers my neighborhood is on a steep hill and I wear a heart rate monitor). I think I need to amp up the cardio. I might start jogging again, even though it’s not my favorite thing to do. I’m also going to try some Zumba-y workout videos.

My body just isn’t getting a tough enough workout. The pilates and Total Gym have definitely given me strength and toning, but I haven’t seen much fat loss. I’ve really got to get that cardio going tough. I want results!

However, I am happy that I have worked out every week for the past 6 months. What an accomplishment! I just realized how big that is. Every week for 6 months. That’s awesome. I guess I shouldn’t be so down on myself after all. It’s just tough when I feel like I’m working hard and nothing is happening!

I also want to write more blog posts, not just a weekly weigh in.

Here are my goals for the next 3 weeks:

1. Track my food every single day – no matter what!

2. Toughen up my cardio routine – 2-3 days a week at HIGH INTENSITY = must get out of breath (which hasn’t been the case recently)

3. Lose 5 pounds! – Get down to 195

Go Sara Go!

this plan sounds reasonable. do you track your fitness and nutrition every day?
I also use the reports to tell me if I am consuming enough calories per day. if you have not looked into the reports tab you might want to explore the options there. How is your sleep pattern? this can effect your weight loss as well?
WooHoo you should celebrate the consistent exercise in the past. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
