Bicycle commuting, days 20-21

This week was good. I finished it out with a roundtrip on Thursday, and one trip on Friday. Thunderstorms were in the forecast for the whole afternoon and evening, starting around 4 pm. It was just starting to come down when I got to the Metro station with my bike. Fortunately, it had let up a bit by the time I got to the stop closest to where I parked my car.
It seems like the week is never uneventful. Fortunately, I didn't have any new flat tires this week. However, I did witness an accident between a cyclist and a car, right where the trail briefly becomes a street before connecting to the Rock Creek Trail.
Fortunately, the cyclist was fine, except for being psychologically bent out of shape. The first thing he did was start cursing the driver over and over, even before he got up off the ground. The driver had lost her way trying to find Key Bridge, and she was extremely apologetic. I hope she'll learn to be more careful, because this incident could easily have cost far worse consequences. I stopped and hung around long enough to make sure that the cyclist didn't need help, and then I went on my way. The next thing I know, I was in front of my building trying to lock up my bike, when I discovered that my U-lock wasn't working any more. Fortunately, I have a garage for backup.
At the end of the day, I took my lock back to the bike shop for another replacement (this is my 3rd now). If this happens again, I want a refund. I'm not sure I trust Onguard locks anymore.
Now that I've got biking down pretty well, I want to work on getting back into a habit of regular strength training. It has always been the first thing to go when the going got tough.
