San Jose Rock & Roll Marathon here we come!!!

I have started my training and this week and I broke the 20 min Mile, we (my sister in law and I) actually did a 16.25 minute mile!! I was so excited and proud!! We did 4 miles at lovers point in Pacific Grove, a GORGEOUS place and I was happy to really do well. This week we are doing SIX miles!! I am looking forward to the challenge! I chose the SJ R&R because this is my first one and it is flat and there is lots of music to motivate me to get going!! It's also near my home so that really helps!

There will be other members of TNT doing this race so I will not be alone, not that I ever am, TNT is with me every step of the way, training, guiding, and just being there when I freak out!! If you ever wanted to do a marathon this is the way to go! I'll be 50 in December and it was on my list to do. Now, I get to check that off AND help a great cause!! Please donate what you can!!!

I'm training to participate in an endurance event called the "San Jose Rock & Roll 1/2 Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of my Uncle Mack pictured above and all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation(skip your starbucks! Bring a lunch and donate what you would have eaten out with) to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

Checks can be mailed to

Hi Cary...what an ambitious girl you are. I am so happy to hear you so motivated and doing the 1/2 marathon for such a good cause. What is the date of the event? What does TNT it "team in training". I'm interested to learn more about it.
Your training sessions sound wonderful. I too am getting into the exercise more and more. Today i walked 8 km and worked in my garden so I am feeling quite good with my activity today. My son and I are planing on participating in the Army Run in Ottawa in Sept. He will be running...I will walk it. It is to benefit the soldiers and their families who have been injured overseas. The beginning of the event starts with the soldiers leading the way and to see these men and women in wheelchairs or with artificial limbs just gives you goosebumps.
Keep up the enthusiasm Cary. You are an inspiration to me.
