The Day Before the 4th...

Sunday, July 03, 2011

Today was a day that could have been filled with some serious over eating.....so I'm pretty proud that I am only a couple hundred calories over plan, and that includes two slices of Mountain Dew Cake!!!! YUMMY....

Started the day with a couple of eggs, turkey bacon, and 1 3" pancake.... more than usual - but I was HUNGRY....so I had the pancake....

Lunch was at the inlaws, and it was a cookout.....I did well...Instead of having the taco dip and chips, I opted for the veggies (carrots, cucumbers, tomatos and summer squash) and skipped the dip.

I did have steamed clams, however, I was pleasantly surprised that by skipping the butter, the serving I had was only 130 calories....I could have filled up on a few more of those and skipped some other things...but I wasn't sure, and didn't know what was on the menu.

I did have some quinoa pilaf to start my meal, along with a sample of the three pasta salads, but I did not over indulge. I did enjoy a yummy burger with cheddar cheese though.

I also opted for water and my 2 sodas in lieu of the adult beverages....I was able to use the gotta be clear headed for my run in the morning to stop everyone from asking what was going on......and why I wasn't drinking....my father in law wanted to assume bun number 3 was in the oven.....to that I almost pushed him in the pool. This factory is closed for that event.

We ended the night with our town's annual fireworks display, and I have to admit that we have the best darn display around.....it never ceases to amaze me....and this year was no exception....35 minutes of constant fireworks, with a finale that would blow your mind!

Off to bed for this gal now.....gotta try and get some sleep....although I am excited/nervous so I don't know if I will sleep well, and those two sodas came late....so I hope that doesn't keep me up....

Happy 4th Everyone!

You did great! And the best part is that you already thought abt how to improve next time. Cookouts can be hard so I usually bring smthg I know I can eat guilt-free like a veggie platter with some hummus or greek yogurt dip.

And I just hate when ppl want you to indulge with them just because they are, lol

Sounds like a nice day! Cookouts are so hard and then add in the temptation of adult beverages and OUCH... Tough! But you did well. We're having a cookout next weekend and will be offering beer and sangria to our guests. I'll remember you and try to stick with water and perhaps a diet soda or two. Way to go, Robyn, and good luck today!!!
