What's Your Favorite Day of the Week?

Wednesday, June 29, 2011

You've heard the song, "Rainy Days and Mondays Get Me Down", but actually Monday has always been my favorite day of the week. Back before I found Sparkpeople, I would promise myself, "Monday morning, I'll start on a diet." Then I'd spend the weekend eating everything in sight getting ready to deprive myself on Monday. I always thought of Monday as a good day to start fresh and change some bad habits. However, now that I've learned so much about living a healthy lifestyle from Sparkpeople, Monday is not the only day I start fresh. Now I look forward to each and every morning as a new beginning, starting with 30 min. of yoga before breakfast, which I've come to love and continuing to plan with my husband how we'll enjoy the rest of the day. Since we're both retired, we can go for a walk in our neighborhood or if it's too hot, walk at the air-conditioned mall. We can put our "Chair-Dancing" DVD on and exercise to music together. We can look through favorite recipes and plan a healthful lunch, since we both like to cook. We can go visit a friend in a nursing home or correspond with friends and family via e-mail. In the evening, we like to watch a classic movie we've gotten out of our public library or read and listen to music. We are both very grateful for the gift of each day and have been blessed with good health. Life is Good Every Day of the Week! emoticon

Great blog Peggy! I'm so glad you and DH can do so many things together.

Years ago I used to hate Mondays but have come to love them as I think of Mondays as the start of my Jazzercise week. It's also a slower day for me work-wise so I get to slowly get up to speed as the week goes by emoticon

emoticon blog, Peggy. Your life sounds serene and peaceful. I tried yoga for the first time last week and really liked it. I'm trying to figure how to include it regularly in my program. Do you use a yoga dvd at home to practice it? Or just special music, etc. We have a yoga class at the Y which is just five minutes away from home and that is a thought. Do you still fast one day a week? If so what is your diet for that day?
Lots of questions but I'm really interested.
Thank you for adding me as your friend. You really are an inspiration to me and to others.
Let's see, Probably Sunday would be my favorite day. Early church, dinner with friends and games in afternoon. Usually church again in evening. Try to stay within goal range that day but no formal exercise. ( I do enjoy my exercise routine however)
Think about me this next week, when we will be having our four grown children and their families here for the July 4th holidays. That could be a challenge in my nutrition and fitness agenda. emoticon
