Cows and Kenyans

So I have been trying to find a fitness buddy for months and have had no success. Most of my church friends live too far away to regularly meet and exercise. My dear walking buddy had surgery a couple of weeks ago and she will need the summer to mend. So last time I was wandering around the park in Damascus (recovering from the bear excitement), I saw a little sign that said "Running Buddy". I was delighted to discover a little group called "Training With Kenyans" that is offering a free running training program this summer. They meet 4 times a week at the Creeper Trail and train. How fabulous is that? It even gets better. A couple years ago a fellow introduced me to the concept of raising funds to buy cows for poor villages. The cow provides milk for families and produces another cow each year. I loved the idea. When I went to the Training With Kenyans website (www.trainwithkenyans.com) I was thrilled to learn that they are raising money for a ministry that serves Kenya. And...the icing on the cake...they are doing a 5K next month where all of the proceeds to go towards a cow. There's a book out called When God Winks (by Squire Rushnell) that talks about how the Lord is often in coincidences. I really believe that. I know He cares about the little things in our lives. Finding this training group is a blessing. I can't wait to meet my new friends tonight.
