Week 1

Week one SparkPeople, current weight 153lbs, my target is to be 130lbs by Christmas, so I’m giving myself loads of time to reach my target. My aim is to change my lifestyle to be more healthy and active. I have recently signed up to complete a race series with the first race on 16th July which is 5 miles then a 10 mile run on 20th August and the half marathon on 17th September. I am very nervous but excited about the prospect of all 3 races. I am going to train as much as possible, but my ultimate goal is to finish all races even if it means a little walking between runnings. I’m not concerned about my time just the achievement of finishing. In addition to my fitness goals I also aim to change my eating habits. Over the past few weeks I have altered them and have lost a few lbs, so joining SparkPeople has come at the right time for me. I don’t have a sweet tooth, thankfully, but my problem lies in the fact that I eat too much food, and tend to eat to many carbs. I have started tracking my food and learn where I am making the mistakes. I eat a lot of fruit and veg any way but will try and cut down on the amount of pasta, rice and bread that I eat. I have also made a conscious effort to stop drinking diet coke and have not drank any in almost a week and have increased the amount of water I drink.
So I have set the wheels in motion, all I need now is a little motivation to keep going and I will reach my goal, POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE!!!

Go for it! Signing up for races is a great way to stay on track with your workout plan. Even if you walk part of the race, it feels so good to cross that finish line. I usually do a couple 5K races during the summers, not to compete, but to show myself that I can do it. Good luck with your weight loss!
