Well hang me out to dry...

Tuesdays are usually laundry day. I'm so blessed to be able to work at home a couple days a week and have found that I can keep laundry going while keeping the phone answered. Woohoo for multitasking. One of my favorite things is hanging clothes out on the line. I'm not as "green" as I'd like to be, but line drying the clothes feels like one little way that I can save some energy. Plus, it's just cool. I live surrounded by cow pastures and it's so pleasant standing out in the sun with the wind gently blowing as I pin each item on the line. The clothes smell fresh and are cool and refreshing against the heat of the sun. I like to fancy that settlers a century ago may have hung clothes out near this same location. OK...maybe that's carrying it a little too far. So here's my thought for the day about laundry and the Trinity. Jesus washes us. He launders us. He removes the soil and stains we pick up as we live our daily lives (when we ask Him). And we emerge gleaming (though my sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow - Isaiah 1:18). Then we boldly hang out soaking up the glory of God the Father. I always wear my sunglasses when working on the clothesline because the clothes reflect the sun's brightness making it nigh impossible to see without squinting. That's my heart's cry. Lord, let me shine brilliantly with Your glory. Then, we get the pleasure of feeling the precious wind of the Holy Spirit blowing us all about. I love the way the hanging clothes flow with the breeze. They don't resist. They just flap and sway with the wind. The stronger the wind, the faster they dry. Well, that sums up my musings on landry day. We'll have to ponder a little farther on folding and putting away. Well, truthfully, I don't always even get to the putting away part. I tend to always have baskets of clothes needing to be put away!

I like that. Pondering things in your heart as you work.
