Low Carb???

Well as most of you know (if you read my blogs), I have been an avid WW for 21 years. 10 yrs at goal or pretty darn near it. The past 2 years I've been maintaining a 15-20 lbs weight gain from my goal weight. It's been frustrating....I've thought......well I'm comfortable here, it's easy to stay this weight.......you know talking myself into saying it's OK. Deep down I can't stand my nakedness in the mirror. I am getting older, I still work out........I still look pretty good for my age....blah blah blah.

About 3 weeks ago my friend and I were talking about her weight troubles and her bout with diabetes and what kind of diet she really should be on to control her blood sugar. My first husband was diabetic so I could relate. My friend got really excited about the plan but just can't get motivated. I thought OK........how about I go on it with you for 2 weeks? We work together so I said I'll make lunch for us for 2 days, you make lunch for us for 2 days and we'll be on our own on Fridays. She loved the idea and couldn't wait to get started. That got me excited.

Now......I have no clue about low carb plans except the Atkins. To me that sounded like a bunch of fat and unhealthy. My friend said that is such old school thought and that we would not be doing the induction phase where I can't eat my veges. I said......OK so I can have veges and protein......I'm in.

Let me tell you.......I am eating so much healthier!!! The only thing I had a hard time with was giving up my oatmeal and milk in the morning. I have since substituted a 1 min. muffin that I make with a combination of Almond and Flaxseed meal, OMG........it's delicious! My friend and I are having the best time trying to out do each other in the awesome-ist lunches category. She made me some rockin' chinese beef with cooked cabbage & I made her some mini jalepeno sliders with cheese.........always a salad with tons of veges with each meal too.

The first week I was so full. I mean sick full every meal. I thought this is soooo not gonna work for me. Now it's the end of week 2 and I've lost 7 lbs. Holy Cow!!! So I know I'm excited and its only been 2 full weeks today, but I really feel good........
