Run (?) in the park - C25K W1D2

Yesterday morning the alarm went off at 5:50am and my mind said 5 minutes more. After 3 of those 5 minutes more I started telling myself that I could skip today and maybe, just maybe get on the treadmill to do C25K W1D2 sometime during the day. WHAT????? Not starting that attitude again!!! Luckily I did not listen to myself and at 6:15am I rolled out of bed and got dressed.

I first have to walk my 2 dogs and the older one had nothing more on the agenda than to sniff every blade of grass. But by 7am, coffee and iPod in hand I was out the door and on my way to the park in town to walk around the loop. Word on the street is that one one time around the loop is about a mile so until I can prove or disprove that it is the distance I am going with.

I am using the Chubby Jones C25K podcast which although her choice of music is not what I listen to, she is motivating and the time goes by "somewhat" fast ;) . The first 60 secs of running were okay but by the 4th round those voices in my head starting chatting away. Give up, give up...walk it, walk walk walk. And I almost did but I did NOT. The other voices reminded me that I have signed up to do a 5K in 3 1/2 weeks and although I will not be prepared to run the whole 5K I had to run as much as I could and if I keep walking how will that build me up to run the entire thing? I have already done the calculations of where I may fall in the results if I shave 10 minutes off my WW 5K Walk It time so I needed to prove myself right. So a did every run segment and I felt sooooo good to have done that when I finished.

The podcast takes me twice around the loop and I have stopped the last two days at that but I think I need I need to do that one more lap so I can get in line with 3.1 miles and be able to work towards that 10 minute shaved off time...... :)

    Hooray! What gets me through c25k runs is telling myself that I shouldn't quit because I just ran for that amount of time a few minutes before! I also hold my belly with my hands and make sure that I'm belly breathing. If I get tired, I'll take as many deep breaths through my nose as I can. Good luck with your 5k training!
