How to win a trophy :)

OK, beyond working hard and training for the specific race, I must say again that it really helps to register for races in small towns. In a smaller field, a runner has a much better chance of placing.
I ran a 5k last weekend in my tiny little town, sponsored by the local high school cross country team. I ran with a group from church, including some kids who were running their first 5k. My public goal was a PR, and my private goal was to be the first Master's female.
Score and score! :)
My time was 25:35, and I won a fancy trophy for my kitchen window sill. I started out too fast, it was hot, and I really don't like 5ks (too fast, too hard), but I am pleased with the overall outcome. Last year I ran the same course in 29:29. Not too shabby an improvement, if I do say so myself ;).
