Catching up and the story of my first dress from a "regular" store.

Holy Moly have I been busy! I cannot believe it’s been so longed since I’ve blogged! We got hardwood floors in our house and my house was in a major state of upheaval for a week. We’ve been interviewing babysitters and finally found one that will hopefully work out. This is Max’s last week of day care and I am freaking out over such a major change. Work has been non-stop too. Only now am I able to come up for air.
Despite all this, I’ve managed to keep up with regular exercise. Tracking has been non-existent however. More on that in the next blog. I’ve also been able to at least stop by Spark for my daily dose of motivation from all my awesome SparkFriends. Ya’ll don’t know how amazing you are!
Despite the lack of tracking, I’ve had some great weigh in’s and I am sooo close to 40lbs lost and even closer to seeing the 180s! I have a family wedding that requires me to travel to Minnesota the weekend of the 24th. All 70 members of my extended family will be there and most of them I haven’t since before Max was born! I really want to be able to answer “40 lbs” should anyone ask me how much weight I lost. Also, I went to college in the Twin Cities and haven’t been back since I graduated 8 years ago. (Yikes! Has it been that long!?). When I go, I will be at least 20 lbs smaller than I was at graduation. It will be great to see my old friends and not be embarrassed about being even bigger than I was back then!
My running has been going well. The heat is slowing me down significantly but my distance is staying the same. I had a GREAT 6.8 mi run with my HM training group on Sunday. We started at 6:30 am and ran around one of the barrier islands so the tide brought in a nice breeze. It’s been brutally hot (broke a record with 101 yesterday) but this run wasn’t too bad. There were only 5 of us this time and even our leader couldn’t make it. The substitute leader went at a much slower pace and at points I was actually in the front of the pack! We had great conversations and the miles ticked by without misery. I’m really starting to like having someone to talk to while I run. I used to be a solo runner, with my music turned up high, but I am starting to change my ways.
Ok, now the best thing to happen over the last two weeks: I PURCHASED A DRESS FROM THE LIMITED!!! THE LIMITED!!! I am pretty sure the last time I was able to fit in something from there I was in high school!!! I wasn’t even planning on it. It was such a cool surprise. See, yesterday it was so hot that I couldn’t even take Max outside. We were both getting cabin fever so we met up with a few of my other “mommy friends” to let our kids burn some energy at the soft play area of the mall. One of the girls needed a dress for her sister’s wedding so I went looking with her. At The Limited I saw a super cute dress that didn’t seem very form fitting. I grabbed a XL and thought “Ya know, this just might fit”. So for kicks, I tried it on. Lo and behold-not only did it fit, but it look cute! Sure a pair of Spanx will be worn underneath, but still, I fit in a dress from a non plus sized store! Yippee!
The sales girl wanted me to try on another dress which was a 14. It looked ugly but that too fit fine! It just didn’t suit me. I wanted to see if I fit into their size 14 pants but Max was showing signs of an imminent meltdown so I didn’t push my luck. I decided to treat myself to the dress so I could wear it the wedding. Thank God it was on sale!!
I will be sure to post pictures from the wedding with me rocking that dress. Here’s the link if you are curious: http://www.thelimited.com/deta
So, what are you celebrating this week?
