Marvelous Monday...?

Hey, it's good to be optimistic, right? :)

Just some random thoughts:
I read an spark article on hiking. It was brief but nice to read, being a hiker myself. Hubby and I both enjoy hiking and do it frequently together from spring through the fall. He's a bit more obsessed with it, so although I do enjoy it, he is learning to get out without me sometimes as well.

One of my big motivations for losing weight and living more healthy is because I too often struggle to keep up with him on our hikes. Although we both need to lose weight, I need more slimming then he does, and I just don't have the stamina that he does.

When I encourage him to go out on his own, it is true that my hobbies and committments sometimes keep me from joining him, but the truth is sometimes it's because I just don't don't look forward to the greater effort I have to put into a hike that for him is "easy". Not to mention that he doesn't mind very repetitive trails, whereas for me I'm inspired by something new and different each time I hike.

So...I picked my tushy up late last night (I AM a night owl) and grabbed an extra 1,000 steps between 11pm and 11:35pm JUST so I could keep my "sparkstreak" of 10k steps every day! Of course that was rather challenging since I'd returned my pedometer and have to wait for my new one to arrive in the mail in a few days.

I also got on the floor during the same time and did 3 back exercises so I coudld keep THAT streak too. I LOVE the sparkstreaks and am trying to set it up so I have streaks for a variety of times (1x a week, 2x a week, so forth, up to my daily streaks). I find them tremendously motivating, and look forward to seeing their numbers build!

This meant that I got to bed later then expected, but I think I'll give myself credit for the full 7 hours sleep, since I was definitely in bed for 7 hours :)

Up to this point in my day, I've done well with water and breakfast. My sandwich was not of the best contents, but I did have a sweet potato with it, so I got a veggie in. During my lunch break (which I take late, AFTER I actually eat my lunch), I'll go and buy cat food (absolute MUST), and hope to also fit in 10 minutes of time with God - Maybe I'll journal and pray...
