17 Weeks

I am on my way! This past week has been pretty good. Besides falling off the calories wagon a few times (and not by much) I have kept within my plan and I have been working out constantly. I may need to actually adjust my calorie count since I have been belly dancing quite a bit ( that may be why I am ravenous), but for now I'm just going to leave it alone. I am feeling better about my dancing, and I have confidence that working with my DVDs and my instructor I should be able to make a decent go of it at camp. I just wish my body didn't get fatigued so quickly. I know I need to build up to working out, but darn it, I'm on a schedule!

I've been working on Jillian Michael's Frontside/Backside DVDs. I must admit I really do like these. Time seems to go pretty quickly and it's definitely geared toward someone getting started - but hey, it's Jillian so that doesn't mean its easy! I like the fact that with the interval training I am doing both cardio & weights- it makes the weight portion not quite as boring. I have never liked working with weights because it seem to take forever.

I've also been using Bahaia's Belly Dance 1 2 3 series. She is fabulous at teaching combinations! I have often struggled with picking up combinations in the past, Bahaia's DVDs really break them down in a manner that I get! I am working on her drum solo DVD and I hope to have that combination down by next week, then I plan to start on the Michelle Joyce Perfect Hips DVD. My plan is to concentrate on one DVD per week for the rest of June and July, then in August & September I'd like to concentrate on the more difficult instructors such as Aziza's Arms & Posture and Rayna Renee. Rayna Renee will be teaching a workshop the first week in September so that will be a good barometer of where I am at for the workshop in October.

Tonight I have another belly dance class with Nisaa. I will e starting her level 1a, I hope that I am right for that class, the beginning class was too easy so she thought this might be a better fit. Since I have taken with quite a few different instructors, I am sure that I will have to 're-learn' a few different movements, but hopefully I will be on track. Here's hoping for a positive dance experience tonight!
