Day 21: Beware of Weddings and what they do to the Lifestyle
Tuesday, June 07, 2011
I started this day off awesome with a really super healthy breakfast and some major gym time (20 minutes on the bike and 30 in the pool, plus 20 minutes speedwalking there and back.)
However, I had a wedding.
I love weddings. I love the people, the dancing, getting all dolled up. Good so far. But I also love the food and drink and the excuse to go waaaaay overboard on both. It is like my inner glutton and drunkard come out to play for about 12 hours. (These are Spanish weddings that I go to folks. These people know how to PAR-TEY.)
I promised myself that I would have just one glass of wine with the hors d'ouvres and one with dinner and JUST ONE COCKTAIL. Well, as some famous military person once said, no battle plan survives the first encounter with the enemy, and sure enough, I found myself guzzling down the wine, then GnT after GnT at the "after party." WHY WHY WHY?!!!
Of course, this results in being massively hung over the next day, missing my running date, sleeping poorly both the night after and the following night, leading me to neglect my normal Sunday cleaning and thesis routine, thus waking on Monday to find the house a disaster and everything behind schedule and STILL feeling hungover. Lo and behold I had work meetings on Monday afternoon, and when I did get home around six, I spent the next three and a half hours putting the house to rights, by which time tu mama is gonna go for a run or to the gym. (sorry for lapsing into spanglish. Can't help!)
So. Deep breath. Start over. Hit the reset button. Today I feel like a normal person. My house is back to normal. I have a light day at work, so I can get all work and research related things back on track.
Goals for this week:
Complete remaining training sessions
Stick to calorie and nutrient levels
Drink 8-10 glasses of water
Schedule school interviews for research programme
Stick to house cleaning schedule
Write-up all current interview notes
