I did it. I finally stepped on the scale..........

Sunday, June 05, 2011

Yesterday marked one year after my FIRST cervicle spine surgery. I haven't weighed myself since about last August, which was when I had my second spine surgery. I have gained 20 lbs! I knew it happened, I just didn't want to step on the scale and see the damage I have caused and all the hard work I threw out the window. It could have been worse, I guess. I was honestly expecting the scale to show that I gained more like 30-40 lbs, since now everything I own is tight or doesn't fit at all. Sooooo, here I am...half heartedly. I HAVE to get control or else. My lower back has also been hurting me, so I can't gain anymore or I will have pain from the top of my spine to the bottom of my spine - and that I just cannot live with.

I am going to start with Leslie Sansone WATP 1 and 2 mile dvd. I know I have to start all over with exercising. I was doing 60 minutes of elliptical/daily, but that was a loooong time ago. I hope I do not get weak and discouraged.

20 pounds is not so much. spine surgery is a serious thing. don't blame yourself and start over again. I gained 60 or 70 pounds after surgery , and various nasty viruses , still haven't lost all of it , just half. s...t happens. just stand up and do it again!

"Life is good." I like that sentence.

There's another way to look at it instead of "all that hard work threw out the window"...
you have the experience and the knowledge for taking off weight and getting fit. You did it once ~ You can do it again!

I know how you feel. I spent years waiting to get my hips replaced. Before the pain I would jog, use the step climber... Now 5 years later with my new hips I walk, use an eliptical, and kayak. I am more limited not, but life is good. Take care
